In a medium size container, add water, salt and stir to dissolve. Add the flour a little at a time using your hands to mix, making circular movements and using your fingers to break up any lumps that may form. Let rest for 5 minutes so the dough can thicken.
Add oil and knead with your hands until the dough is soft and holds its shape. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions, shape a ball and flatten it to create a saucer shape that’s about 1/2-in thick.
Heat up a nonstick frying pan on medium heat. Cook the arepas 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden and a little crunchy on the outside.
Use a knife to slice open a warm arepa and spread a little butter on the inside. Fill with warm pork meat and shredded Gayo Azul Gouda cheese. Let melt and enjoy!
